The City Council of Ridgecrest voted on Nov. 19 to award the construction contract for the Sgt. John Pinney Memorial Pool Complex to AMG & Associates, Inc., restoring most of the alternates previously removed in order to stay within budget.
Bids were originally opened on October 16, 2025. AMG’s base bid of $19,587,000 was accepted as the lowest responsive bid.
A set of alternates initially deducted from the contract amount to align with budget constraints was later revised by council action: alternates 2 (outdoor area/trellis), 3 (community-room configuration) and 5 (interior finishes) were restored, while alternate 1 (HAWKS pedestrian crosswalk) was excluded.
The restoration of those alternates added approximately $277,000 to the contract, so after deduction of the initial alternates the adjusted contract total is $19,122,000, with further restoration increasing the final contract amount accordingly.
The resolution authorizes allocation of Measure P funds for the contract amount, plus up to $278,000 in construction contingency, for a maximum project authorization of up to $19.4 million.
The City Manager is authorized to execute the contract with AMG & Associates, Inc., in content and form approved by the City Attorney and City Manager.
Construction is anticipated to begin with a groundbreaking in December, followed by major work in early 2026, and completion projected for the summer of 2027.
