Significant progress continued this week at the Porterville Community Center & Park as both site and building work moved forward across multiple areas of the project.

Crews advanced critical underground utility work, including saw cutting, excavation, and completion of the domestic water connection at the city point of connection. The sewer tie-in was completed, inspected, and backfilled, keeping site infrastructure on track. New water main thrust blocks were poured, and aggregate base installation continued throughout the parking areas and new entry points.

Inside the building, fire sprinkler installation began, marking an important step toward life-safety system completion. Framing also progressed on the racquetball court exterior walls, and the south section of the building successfully passed roof framing and sheathing inspection, a major construction milestone.

This Design-Bid-Build project includes the construction of an 18,546-square-foot community center along with a full suite of outdoor amenities, including a new parking lot, mini-pitch soccer field, splash pad, challenge course, rock climbing boulder, pumptrack, fitness areas, playground, picnic areas, shade structures, sidewalks, trash enclosure, and extensive landscaping. The scope also includes electrical utilities and site improvements, with new service extensions to support the community center as well as pedestrian and parking lot lighting throughout the site.

To cap off the week, drone photos captured clear progress on the building massing, parking lot layout, and new site entries show the project quickly taking shape into a dynamic space designed to serve the Porterville community for years to come.
