A Santa Clarita general contractor has been awarded a multi-million contract to create a new building for law enforcement.

AMG & Associates Inc. of Valencia landed an $11.1 million contract to build a Sheriff’s Forensic Crime Laboratory for the county of San Bernardino.

The crime lab plans for 20,000 square feet of space and consist of masonry exterior, with structural steel roof frame, metal stud interior walls, with mixed use office and laboratory spaces. The project is designed for LEED Silver Certification.

A unique feature planned for the property is a firing range, enclosed within the masonry walls.

Specialized laboratory equipment will support the forensic work.

“We are extremely pleased with the award of this critical project for the Sheriff’s Department,” said Albert Giacomazzi, president and CEO of AMG & Associates.

“The project size is perfect for us as we continue to create additional backlog for 2015,” he said.
