Santa Clarita, CA - August 27, 2024. AMG & Associates (AMG) and the City of Long Beach Department of Public Works broke ground today on the new permanent home of Fire Station 9. The new 12,779-square-foot, state-of-the-art two-story facility is located at 4101 Long Beach Blvd. AMG was awarded the project in June 2024 through a competitive bid processes with the project valued at $17.7M.
Albert M. Giacomazzi, President of AMG, stated, “Public safety facilities are an essential part of any community and this project will continue to enhance the services of Long Beach for generations to come.” The new station is design to achieve LEED Silver Certification which will include energy efficiency design aspects such as solar panels, low-flow plumbing fixtures, LED lighting, and energy-efficient heating and cooling systems. “We’re extremely proud of the work that will go into this project that will take advantage of the most modern energy efficient amenities,” Giacomazzi added.
The Fire Station #9 project in Long Beach consists of constructing a new two-story fire station for eight on-duty firefighters. The station will feature apparatus bays, support spaces, a public lobby, private sleeping quarters, and a fitness room. Other improvements include secure parking, an EV charging station, new traffic signals, sidewalk replacements, and landscaping. In early July AMG completed survey work to locate underground utilities prior to construction staging.
“The development of our new Fire Station 9 facility marks an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to enhancing public safety across our city,” said Mayor Rex Richardson. “This state-of-the-art fire station will provide our dedicated Long Beach Fire Department personnel with the resources they need to continue their exceptional service to our community and safeguard residents and property.
Construction of the new fire station is expected to be completed in early 2026 barring any unforeseen delays.
