Santa Clarita, CA - October 31, 2023 – AMG & Associates (AMG) was recently awarded a new construction project for the City of Newport Beach to build the Newport Beach Library Lecture Hall valued at $19.5M.
The project will consist of the construction of a new 9,814 square foot, state-of-the-art, single story lecture hall building with a courtyard. Additional site work will include demolition of sub-service existing utilities, installing new utility systems, site paving, pavement markings, signage, site walls, site lighting, trash and equipment enclosures, landscape plantings, and parking lot expansion.

The Central Public Library in Newport Beach has a rich history in the community and this new expansion will allow for improved services and experiences for residents and visitors for generations to come.”
In 1994 the 54,000 square foot Central Public Library in Newport Beach was completed and became a popular cultural facility for the community and today attracts over 1.2 million visitors annually. In 2013 a new 17,000 square foot addition was completed that linked the library to City Hall.
With a desire to provide civic infrastructure and expand the library, the City recently approved the project and chose AMG as the general contractor. The facility will seat 299 people and be supported with sophisticated audio and visual technology.
Jill Johnson-Tucker, chair of the lecture hall design committee and chair of the lecture hall fundraising campaign said, "The new facility will reflect the pride that this community holds for the library and Civic Center complex. This fulfills the library's mission as the cultural, educational and informational heart of the city."
The new lecture hall is scheduled to open in January 2026.
